"The Bump"

Bowen was diagnosed with a Dermoid Cyst when he was around 2 months old. It is the bump you see on his left eye brow. Even though Dermoid Cyst may kind of sounds scary...it really isn't a big deal! We are thankful for that!

Here is some information about Dermoid Cysts.
A dermoid cyst is a saclike growth that is present at birth. It contains structures such as hair, fluid, teeth, or skin glands that can be found on or in the skin. Dermoid cysts grow slowly and are not tender unless ruptured. They usually occur on the face, inside the skull, on the lower back, and in the ovaries. Superficial dermoid cysts on the face usually can be removed without complications. Removal of other, rarer dermoid cysts requires special techniques and training.

We are planning on getting his removed around 2 years old. We are working with an ophthalmologist to monitor it until he is old enough to have the surgery to remove it.
